Career Resources

Since 1991, the Hopkins-Nanjing Center has organized programs designed to expose the Center's students to a range of prospective career options in East Asia generally, and in China in particular.  The Center also offers its students the benefit of professional expertise in planning careers through programs held in Nanjing in both the fall and spring semesters. The aim of these programs is to teach the Center's Chinese and international students about different career paths and to help them position themselves to take advantage of the unique education they have received at the Center for professional opportunities in Asia.

Resume Book

The Resume Book is published yearly and consists of all students’ resumes.  These books are then distributed to employers in different industries.  All resumes that are submitted to the SAIS Career Service office as part of resume collections, resume books, Career Services sponsored events and interviews, must conform to the SAIS Resume Template.  Click on the following links to see the SAIS Resume Guidelines, view a Sample SAIS Resume or download a Resume Template.

Career Day

Career Day is a one-day program that consists of lectures, panel discussions, and mock interviews. The aim of the event is to give the Hopkins-Nanjing Center's students information on a variety of career paths, and to give potential employers the opportunity to discuss career opportunities with this group of over 120 bilingual students.  The schedule of events is now available for the 2008 Career Day.

SAISWorks

For students making a career transition or needing to reassess their career options, registering on SAISWorks, SAIS online career management system, will expand your resources and services.   In addition to the resources noted above, registering provides students with:

  • Jobs Database – Gain access to a variety of jobs, for both mid- and advanced-level candidates at some of SAIS’s top employers; this also includes the ability to set up search agents that automatically e-mail a user-defined list of opportunities.
  • Event and Programming RSVPs – In addition to events open to all alumni, some special events are RSVP only.  Alumni must be registered on SAISWorks to attend; preference is always given to current students.  Note that a limited number of events are for students only, which will be noted in the event description.
  • Skills Courses – SAIS Career Services Offers a variety of skills courses for current students. If space is still available at the close of skills-course registration, alumni registered on SAISWorks may sign-up for the courses.

To obtain a SAISWorks log-in and password, click here.  Please provide your degree (MA, MIPP, Phd or Certificate) concentration, year of graduation and preferred e-mail address. After reviewing your status, your profile will be added to SAISWorks and you will be sent information on using the system and utilizing career services.
